Robert Andert

South Bend – Robert "Bob" Andert, 75, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2010 in Memorial Hospital. Bob was born on November 29, 1934 in South Bend to the late John and Neta (Cook) Andert.
On May 20, 1961 Bob married Betty (Voorde) in the Cathedral of St. Matthew. He is survived by his wife, Betty of South Bend; daughters, Jennifer (Joe) Yaciw of South Bend, Lynne Marie Andert of South Bend and Cheryl (Jeff) Celie of Mishawaka; his sister, Rosemary Nyerges of Granger; brother, John Andert of Lakeville; three grandchildren, Jordan and Olivia Yaciw and Faith Andert all of South Bend.
Bob worked as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 153 and Knights of Columbus Council #5521 Fourth Degree. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a long standing parishioner and usher at the Cathedral of St. Matthew. Bob loved gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
Family and friends may gather at 10:00am on Thursday, May 6, 2010 in the Cathedral of St. Matthew where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30am with Rev. Msgr. Michael Heintz presiding. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations may be to St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami St. South Bend, IN 46613. For those unable to attend the Funeral Mass, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
