Armond Arthur Thompson May 31, 1955 - Jan. 17, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Mr. Armond Arthur Thompson, a resident of Dunham Street, South Bend, Indiana, passed from this life at the age of 59 years on January 17, 2015, at 2:07 p.m. at Memorial Hospital. Armond was born on May 31, 1955, in South Bend, Indiana, to the union of Roosevelt and Wilma (Phillips) Thompson.

He attended public school and graduated in 1974 from Washington High School where he played football and basketball. He also attended college in Marquette, Michigan. Armond served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged.

He was employed by the South Bend Housing Authority in Maintenance and Batteast Construction Company as a construction worker. Armond was a former member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. His passions included his family, music, sports and Westerns. He was very witty and enjoyed laughing.

He and Judy Jones were married in South Bend on September 1, 1976. Family members who will cherish his memory include his wife, Judy; one daughter, Carmen Collins (Stacey); one son, Armond Thompson Jr.; grandchildren, TaShayla Wright, Jewlissa Harris, Jaylynn Harris, Chacie Hudson, Armoni Thompson, Armondo Thompson and Savanah Diaz; a great-grandchild, Anilah Windmon; his mother, Wilma Thompson, Acworth, Georgia; sisters, Christina Price (Jerome) and Marvella Ford, both of Acworth, Georgia, and Debra Thompson-Red-ding, Dallas, Texas; a brother, Fred Thompson, Lyons, Michigan; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his father, Roosevelt Thompson; a brother, Roosevelt Jr.; maternal grandparents, Wiley and Alice Phillips; paternal grandparents, Duke and Jesse Thompson-Patton; and father-in-law, Richard Dick Jones.

Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be held Friday, January 23, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Pentecostal Cathedral. Interment will follow at Mt Pleasant Cemetery. Alford's Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
