VERSAILLES, KY - Brian David Yanko, 49, formerly of South Bend, passed away on September 16, 2009, in the UK Chandler Medical Center, Lexington, KY. Brian was born on May 23, 1960, in Columbus, OH, to David G. and Rita (Lubinski) Yanko Jr. Preceding Brian in death was his father, David Jr.

On August 15, 1987, Brian married Debbie (Hooley) in Springfield, TN. His wife, Debbie, along with their daughters, Rachel and Emily Yanko, survive and live in Versailles, KY. Also surviving are his mother, Rita of South Bend; sisters, Amy (James) Phelps of South Bend and Beth Ann Fuller of North Liberty; mother and father-in-law, Walter and Miriam Hooley of Goshen; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois (Alan) Hall of Mabelvale, AK, John Hooley of Elkhart, Weldon Hooley of Ellijay, GA, Rose (Steve) Slusser of Elkhart, Dorcas Hooley of Elkhart and Stan Hooley of Wasilla, Alaska; many nieces and nephews, and a great-niece and nephew.

Brian was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1978, and majored in music at IUSB.

He was currently employed by Furniture Row Outlet and was a carrier for the Lexington Herald Leader, Lexington, KY. He previously worked for the Coca Cola Bottling Co. and Bamber Supperette, Inc., in South Bend. Brian was an avid and talented musician who played in a variety of bands in South Bend and Kentucky. He loved music, science fiction, traveling, was a collector of imported beer and, most of all, loved his family.

Family and friends may gather from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice or to the family. For those who are unable to attend the gathering in the funeral home, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
