JONATHAN RODGERS

SOUTH BEND - Jonathan Rodgers, 45, of South Bend, Indiana went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. He was born on September 13, 1965 in Dallas, Texas to Cordelia (Rodgers) Anderson and Grady Armour Jr.
Jonathan graduated from Washington High School in 1984. From 1984 to 1988 he served in the United States Marine Corps where he specialized in computer science and sharpshooting. He was honorably discharged as Sergeant in 1988. He then pursued his bachelor's degree at Norfolk State University, Indiana University-Bloomington and ultimately graduating from Indiana University South Bend in 1994. Jonathan was a dedicated employee of Allied Barton Securities. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. (Alpha Chapter).
He loved and lived to ride his motorcycle. He rode "by any means necessary." He was a member of Ruff Ryders Inc. and was a member of Dice Down Inc. Ruff Ryders and Dice Down, both were an extension of his family. In these affiliated organizations, Jonathan served in a capacity dedicated to giving back to the community by feeding the hungry and fundraising for those in need. He loved children, evidenced by his numerous godsons and goddaughters. Jonathan had a deep passion for life, evidenced by his dependable, kind and always willing to help attitude. He was a very knowledgeable man of high integrity. He will be remembered for his zealous attitude towards life. Jonathan, a/k/a "Mr. Gadget," "Einstein" and "Game Over."
He is survived by his mother, Cordelia (Rodgers) Anderson; a sister and friend, Aslisia L. Rodgers; and a brother and friend, Steven E. Loft Jr. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Gloster and Myrine Harris; his aunts, Delores (James) Wells, Elizabeth Ann Ward, Darlene (Kurt) Farmer and Cynthia Harris. Finally, he leaves behind to cherish his life and many, many memories numerous cousins and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Grady Armour; maternal grandfather, Herman Richard Rogers; his paternal grandparents; his uncle, Richard Larry Rodgers; and his first cousins, Anthony Lamar Carter and Lorenzo Joel Walker.
A celebrated home-going for Jonathan will be held on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and then services at Noon. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Please visit our website at www.clarkoneal.com to sign his guestbook.
