Dale J Strzelecki

Dale J. Strzelecki

Dale J. Strzelecki (September 25th, 1955 – November 2nd, 2023) passed away Thursday evening after a courageous battle with lung fibrosis. He spent his last days enjoying time with his family.

Dale was born and raised in South Bend, IN where he graduated from Washington High School before attending Ball State University where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree. Dale grew up loving the game of baseball and was an excellent pitcher - starting his career in Little League, continuing in high school and Legion league, through college where he was scouted by the pros, but an unfortunate injury stunted his baseball career. He was able to continue his excellence in the game in adult softball leagues; being inducted into the Indiana Softball Hall of Fame in 2017.

Dale met the love of his life, Renie, in 1979 and was married on October 22nd, 1988. The couple was blessed with four beautiful children: Jay, Garrett, Tyler and Kelsey. He was a devoted husband and father, with heavy influence in his kids' love for God.

Dale has been employed with Teachers Credit Union (Everwise) for 44 years, finishing his career as Asst. VP of Underwriting. Dale was a devout Catholic, he attended St. Pius Catholic Church in Granger, IN. He was committed to his family, friends, Notre Dame sports, and was a dedicated member of the YPU. He loved spending his summers on the lake enjoying good music on the pontoon. He enjoyed family vacations to Florida and beach towns in Michigan.

Dale is survived by his wife of 35 years, Renie Strzelecki, his four children; Jay Mullins (Stacey), Garrett Strzelecki (Fiona), Tyler Strzelecki (Jordan), Kelsey Strzelecki (Alex); his brother Ron Strzelecki (Cynthia); his sister Connie Grabowski (Chris); his grandchildren Gracie and Roman; and his granddogs Dash and Lottie. He is preceded in death by his mother, Loraine "Rita" Strzelecki and his father Harry Strzelecki.

Dale was a model Catholic who always put others first. He held his family together and instilled the importance of a close family bond in his children - enjoying frequent family dinners and always giving fatherly advice; he never ceased being a mentor and role model to his children.

His big heart and quick wit will be missed by many, but his legacy will live on through his family and friends and the retelling of his fondest memories.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr. South Bend, IN from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A vigil service will be held at 5:00 pm.
