Steven Mitchell Calmus, 49, of Osborn Road, Elkhart, Indiana, passed — away December 29, 2004 in his residence following his brave battle with cancer. Mr. Calmus was born April 4, 1955 to Howard and Beverly (Singleton) Calmus in South Bend, Indiana. On September 4, 1982, Steve married the former Ms. Karen Radakovich at the Lakeville United Methodist Church, Lakeville, Indiana.

Karen survives, along with Steven's parents, a daughter, April Calmus of South Bend, and two sisters, Lori Malke and her husband, Doug of Lakeville, and Pam Burnette of South Bend.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today, January 1, 2005 at Chapel Hill funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Chapel Hill funeral home, and entombment will be private in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Indiana.

Mr. Calmus was a graduate of Washington High School, class of 1973. He was the former owner and operator of Calmus Electric for 10 years, and most recently was employed as an electrical estimator and project manager for Herrman and Goetz for the last 8 years. 

Steven belonged to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 153 for many years. In his spare time, Steven enjoyed scuba diving with his wife in many exotic locations, and underwater photography. His love for scuba diving allowed him to serve as an assistant dive instructor for J.R. Aquatics. Later in his life, he found a deep appreciation for nature, especially boating, spending time at the lake, and playing golf. Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society in Steven's memory.
