SOUTH BEND - Leonard “Lenny” Genchoff, 52, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 in his home.

Lenny was born June 3, 1963 in South Bend to Nancy (Genchoff) Rozmarynowski and Art Hensell Sr. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, David Michaud and stepfather, Dennis Rozmarynowski.

On September 17, 2005 Lenny married his loving wife Patricia “Patti” (Protsman) Genchoff; she survives along with children: Phillip (Nichole) Genchoff, Nichole (Monica) Zehendner, Stephanie Zehendner, Jeremy (Amanda) Protsman and Matthew Brummett; grandchildren, Tiara and Taylor Zehendner, Jasmine Craft, Hunter and Ashton Prostman; great-grandson, Ayden Zehendner; grandmother, Alice Michaud; sister, Stacy (Kris) Kissinger; nephew Ty Davis; niece, Abigel Rozmarynowski; half-siblings, Lynn (Steve) Torrijas, Jeanette Hensell, Dawn (Dan) Long, Lori (Mark) Schweizer, Rhonda Hensell, Brian Hensell and Art Hensell Jr; aunts, Janet Lowe and Betty Stone; cousins, Donna (Chris) Thielke, Billy Lowe and Pam (Joe) Hayton and his American Legion family.

Lenny was a graduate of Washington High School. He was employed with the South Bend International Airport for the past 18 years. Lenny was a member of the American Legion Post #357 where he held the position as Sons of American Legion Commander for many years. He always volunteered for all events at the Legion including beginning the Toys4Tots drive. Lenny was the Grand Marshall of the West Side Memorial Day Parade for the past 3 years. He loved his dogs. Lenny enjoyed sitting around campfires, occasionally falling into them, camping and spending time with family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Lenny's honor on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm in The American Legion 357.

ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. is assisting the family.
