SOUTH BEND - Mrs. JoAnne (Kyle) Baker, dear wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who resided on East Bowman Street, South Bend, Indiana, passed from this life at 6:58 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2012, in Memorial Hospital. JoAnne's life began in South Bend, Indiana, on October 10, 1961, when she was born to Joseph and Castella (Gillespie) Kyle.
JoAnne was reared in South Bend where she attended public school, graduating from Washington High School in 1980. She also attended Vincennes College.
On April 26, 1987, in South Bend, JoAnne and Eric Baker were united in marriage.
She was employed by the South Bend Community School Corporation as a Teacher's Aide. JoAnne was a member of Power in Praise Church where she served as a Nurse and a Missionary. Among her hobbies were cooking, watching the Food Network and caring for other people.
Loving family members who survive to cherish her memory include her husband, Eric Baker; two daughters, Jasmine Castella Latrice Baker of Lansing, MI, and Brittane Michelle Baker; two sons, Bryon DeShawn Baker and Eric Louis Baker Jr.; one grandchild, Zaylen Allen; her father, Joseph (Ida) Kyle; all of South Bend, IN; one sister, Patricia (Lonnie) Dubose of Phoenix City, AL; her mother-in-law, Margie Baker; aunts, Mattie Donaldson and Juanita Donaldson, all of South Bend, IN; a sister-in-law, Lisa (Dennis) Giddings of Indianapolis, IN; along with other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding her in death were her mother, Castella Kyle; a daughter, Stephanie Kyle; grandparents, Luther and Lillie Kyle, and Ozie and Susanne Gilliespie; and her father-in-law, Ervin Baker.
Funeral services for Mrs. Baker will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Power in Praise Church with Bishop Rico Butler officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the funeral. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where messages of condolence may be emailed to alfordsmortuary@att.net, c/o the Baker family.
