SOUTH BEND — Reginald O'Neil Givens, "Reggie", 35, formerly of 718 S. Albert Ave., South Bend, Ind., passed away at 2:38 p.m. on Dec. 16, 1997, at Chicago Neighborhood Hospital, South Shore, after an ill-ness. He was a patient at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago. Reginald was born on Aug. 9, 1962, in Chicago, Ill. He lived there until he was 7 years old before moving to South Bend.

Reginald was a Washington High School graduate, 1980. Throughout high school he played drums in the band. He also played football for one season. He was also a graduate of the University of Indiana, Bloomington, Ind., where he received a B.S. degree in Public and Environmental Affairs, in 1984.

Reginald was an employee for Chicago Transit Authority for over seven years. He was an employee of the city of Chicago for two years. Reginald served In two positions on his job for CTA. Until his death, Reginald was an engineering scheduler. He had also held the position of Project Administrator II. Before working for the CTA, Reginald worked as a city planner for the city of Chicago, Bureau of Transportation Planning and Programming. He taught school in Maywood, Ill. for over a year. He was an employee of Tandy Corp./Radio Shack, Bloomington, for two years. While growing up in South Bend, Reginald delivered papers for the Chicago Tribune and South Bend Tribune. He did other jobs in the community as well. 

Reginald is survived by his mother, Rosie Givens McInnis; his father, Booker T. Jordan, Jr., of Illinois; two sons, Elijah and Zachariah of Illinois; four sisters, La Von Sheree M6Innis Thomas of Indiana, Stella Jackson and Carolyn Shaw, both of Illinois and Sharon Jordan of California; six brothers, Gregory, Lester, Michael and Kenneth of Illinois, Jimmy of Virginia and Sidney of Ohio; maternal grandmother, Lillie Givens; fraternal grandfather, Booker Jordan, Sr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and friends. Reginald accepted Christ at 8 years of age under the leadership of Pastor Dave Davis of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in South Bend. Reginald was a member of the Apostolic Church, Chicago.

Services and burial were in Chicago and Hillside.
