Raymond J. Skarbek

Raymond J. Skarbek, 73, of Eastview Drive, Bristol, Ind., passed away at 9:29 a.m. on Monday, April 19, in his home. He was born on Sept. 4, 1930, in South Bend, Ind., to Anthony and Josephine (Jamros) Skarbek. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony.

On Sept. 11, 1970, in 1st Presbyterian Church in South Bend, Raymond married Barbara Sobieski. Raymond is survived by his wife, Barbara; mother, Josephine Skarbek; sons, Richard Stevens of Burlington, Wis., Jay (Sandra) Stevens of Griffith, Ind., Trevor Skarbek and Tracy Skarbek, both of Rochester, Ind.; grandchildren, Zachary Stevens, Travis Stevens and Caitlin Stevens, all of Griffith; sisters, Dolores (Mel) Kulwicki and Carol (Jim) Zalas, both of South Bend; and brothers, Albert (Lillian) Skarbek of South Bend and Jerry (Pat) Skarbek of Niles, Mich.

Raymond was a former member of St. Adalbert Church. He was an Air Force veteran for four years. He was self-employed as a construction manager all of his life, retiring in 1989.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, April 21, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April  22, in the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or to the Kidney Foundation.
