John R. Sinka

NEW CARLISLE — John R. Sinka, 62, of Timothy Road, died at 5:05 p.m. Sunday in his home after an illness. Mr. Sinka was a former employee of Torrington Co., South Bend. He was born Aug. 10, 1930, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On Nov. 24, 1951, in South Bend, he married Carolyn "June" Tan.. She survives with a daughter, Tawni Maenhout of South Bend; three sons, John N. and Tim S., both of New Carlisle, and Chris B. of Glenwood, Ill.; eight grandchildren; four sisters, Kate Kish of Buchanan, and Betty Kuc, Helen Hurst, and Rose Varga, all of South Bend; and two brothers, Joseph of Mishawaka and Paul of South Bend.

He was a member of American Legion Post 297.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
