SOUTH BEND - Ervin S. Rybicki, 78, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2007, in the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility. Ervin was born on March 12, 1929, in South Bend, to Alex and Helen (Nespo) Rybicki, and was a lifelong resident. He retired on March 1, 1989, from Bendix-Allied Signal after 40 years as a graphic arts technician.

On April 23, 1955, in St. Casimir Church, he married Jeanette H. Gorczyca, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Michelle A. Rybicki of South Bend, IN, and Sandra L. Rybicki of Asheville, NC; one sister, Loretta Megyesi of Mishawaka, IN; one sister-in-law, Eileen Rybicki of South Bend, IN; and several nieces and nephews, including Rev. Daryl Rybicki.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Alex and Helen Rybicki, and one brother, Quinlan Rybicki.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2007, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Thursday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m.

Ervin was a graduate of Washington High School.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish, a charter member of the St. John the Baptist Ushers Club, and a former usher at St. Casimir Church. He was a Korean War veteran, a member of the American Legion Pulaski Post #357, and a member of Bowlers Country Club. Ervin enjoyed bowling, golfing, and old black-and-white classic movies.
