John Robert Leszczynski

John Robert Leszczynski, 86, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 in his home surrounded by his family.

John was born November 24, 1929 in South Bend to the late Stanley and Florance (Babicz) Leszczynski. John was also preceded in death by a son, James S. Leszczynski; sisters, Louise Janowiak, and Lucille Gadacz; brother, Frank Leszczynski; brothers-in-law, Chester Gadacz, and Richard Janowiak; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Leszczynski.

On October 7, 1950, in St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, John married Rita (Jedrzejewski) Leszczynski. Rita survives along with sons, John E. (Jean) Leszczynski of South Bend and Joseph J. (Colleen) Leszczynski of Walkerton; daughter, Janet M. Pauszek of Franklin, IN; daughter-in-law, Nancy Leszczynski; sisters, Evelyn Gadacz and Marie (Walter) Stefaniak; and brother, Stanley (Claudie) Leszczynski.

Also surviving are his seven grandchildren; Brandon, Ryan, John Jr., Kimberly, Christopher, Leigh and Robyn and two great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Cooper.

John worked as a South Bend Police officer for 32 years before retiring on June 4, 1992. He loved golfing, fishing, and especially enjoyed mowing his lawn. Most of all, John enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation is 2-7pm on Monday, December 21, 2015 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5pm. Mass of Christian Burial is 10am on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in Holy Family Catholic Church. Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
