Evelyn (Leopold) Weiher

Services for Mrs. Evelyn (Leopold) Weiher, 53, of Toledo, Ohio, formerly of South Bend, who died Sunday, Nov 27, 1983, in her home after a lengthy illness, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph A. Jacobs, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the ,Kaniewski and Sons Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:30p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Chapel at the University of Toledo in Ohio.

She was a producer and teacher at Toledo Central Catholic High School and a drama teacher at the University of Toledo.

She was born on Aug. 9, 1930, in South Bend, and moved to Toledo in 1951. On June 22, 1951, in South Bend, as Evelyn Leopold, she married Roger Weiher, who survives. Also surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas (Helen) Leopold of South Bend; and a son, Thomas Christian, at home.

She was a professional actress and director and had studied in the 11.F1. Studio. in New York City and at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. She directed more than 50 plays and musicals and was a guest artist in many theaters throughout the country. She also was a former Presbyterian Player, a student of James Lewis Casaday, a graduate of Washington High School and a 1951 graduate of Western Michigan University.
