SOUTH BEND - Joseph I. Wiskotoni, 82, passed away October 20, 2009, at his home in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Joseph was born on March 15, 1927, in South Bend, IN, to the late Ignatius and Bertha (Przybylski) Wiskotoni. He married Evelyn Latowski in September 1950. In May 1973, he married A. Virginia Aker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, brother, Bert Wiskotoni, sisters, Alice Richmond, Florence Bella and Gertrude Stasiak.

Joseph was a loving father to his children and is survived by his sons, Phillip and Ric Wiskotoni, both of Elkhart, Jim Wiskotoni of Concord, NC; daughter, Becky Wiskotoni of Indianapolis; brothers, Dan and Norbert Wiskotoni of South Bend, Ray Wiskotoni of Elkhart; stepchildren, Sydney (Jerry) DeYoung of Gilbert, AZ, Rock E. (Laurena) Aker of Naperville, IL; five stepchildren; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph left high school in 1944 to serve in the United States Navy until 1946, and was a decorated WW II veteran. He graduated from South Bend Washington High School in 1947. He earned an accounting degree from the South Bend College of Commerce and the University of Notre Dame. He worked as a certified public accountant with McGladery, Hendrickson and Company for 25 years before retiring as a partner in 1983. He was awarded a 50-year honorary membership with the American Institute of CPA's and was a member of the Arizona Society of CPA's. He also was a member of the American Legion, the Elks and Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Havasu City, AZ.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 20, from 6-8 p.m. in the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, located at 700 E. Jackson Blvd. in Elkhart, IN 46516. A celebration of Joseph's life will be held on Saturday, November 21, at 9 a.m. with a memorial Mass at 10 a.m. officiated by Father Bernard Galic of Holy Family Catholic Church, located at 56407 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46619. Entombment will be at Riverview Cemetery in South Bend In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Foundation, to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation or to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County. Condolences may be shared online with Joseph's family at WalleyMillsZimmermanFuneralHome@aol.com. Cremation was handled by the Lake Havasu City Mortuary and Crematory.
