SOUTH BEND — Chester J. Kopczynski, 69, of Alan Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mr. Kopczynski was born on June 2, 1928, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. He was retired from the Alumni Tool & Die Company in South Bend.

He was married on Sept. 4, 1950, in South Bend, to Joan Nowicki, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Karen (Robert) Lesher of South Bend and Nancy (David) Mclnemy of Aurora, Ill.; a son, Gary (Kimberly) Kopczynski of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Kimberly, Shelly and Matthew Lesher of South Bend, Eric Kopczynski of South Bend, and Claire, Paul and Alex Mclnemy, all of Aurora, Ill.; three sisters, Sallie Szymanski, Josephine Nalepinski and Frances Nowak, all of South Bend; and by a brother, Walter Kopczynski of South Bend.

Mr. Kopczynski was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of UAW Local 5 and American Legion Pulaski Post 357. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46619.

A Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. today. Services will be at 11 am. on Saturday in Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437.
