Eleanore I. McColm, 77, of South Bend, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2006, in Our Lady of Peace Hospital. Mrs. McColm was born on January 3, 1929, in Lakeville, IN, to Joseph and Ethel (Karsas) Igaz. She retired in 1986 from A.M. General where she had been employed for 19 years. Eleanore was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, and was one of the last remaining members of the Sacred Heart congregation that formed the church. She was also a lay leader and lay delegate to the Methodist Annual Conference at Purdue University for eight years. Eleanore also belonged to the American Business Women, the Tri-Harmony Chorus, Symphonic Choir and the Homemaker extension of Purdue University.

On June 21, 1980, in South Bend, she married David R. McColm, who survives along with a daughter, Luanne (Jerry) Bolin of Osceola; a son, Phillip (Vickie) Gray of Granger; three stepdaughters, Mary Lisa McColm of Richmond, VA, Marta Laurie (Tom) LaPorte of Chesterfield, MI, and Marcie L. (Brett) Welden of Kempner, TX; two stepsons, Mark L. (Janice) McColm of Trenton, MI, and Michael L. McColm of Chesterfield, MI; tour grand-children, Brandon Ellar, Jeffery (Jennifer) Gray, Heather (Sam) Obermeyer and Sara Gray; eight step-grandchildren, Kristen Brooks, Jennifer (Bernell) Phillip, Rebecca McColm, Cristina McColm, Stephanie LaPorte, Craig LaPorte, Jordan Freshour and Doug Welden; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Gray and Nicolette Gray, and Jaden Vance; and a sister, Ethel Mary Staley of South Bend. Eleanore was preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother, Anthony G. Igaz.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2006, in Immanuel United Methodist Church, 1211 W. Ewing Avenue. Her cremains will be buried at a later date in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Committee of Immanuel United Methodist Church. Zahoran Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
