Henrietta Widawski (Masters)

Henrietta A. (Widawski)  Masters

June 6, 1921 - Aug. 12, 2017

GRANGER - Henrietta A. Masters, 96, passed away on August 12, 2017 at Bell Tower Health & Rehabilitation Center in Granger, Indiana. She was born June 6, 1921 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Louis & Leokadja (Kiemnec) Widawski. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Linus Masters.

Surviving are her four children, Debra Haney, Kathy Maness, Edward Masters and Jim Masters. She has five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Henrietta worked at Elm Road School, Real Services, and other part time jobs. Madison Center was her last job where she worked until the age of 89. Henrietta was an avid reader, liked to play cards (and cheated sometimes) and enjoyed going to the movies. The last six years she enjoyed taking vacations with her daughters and spending her winters in California. She loved being around people. She was a member of St. Anthony's Church until she was no longer able to drive.

Some thoughts from family members and friends: Mom lived a long wonderful life filled with family, friends and lots of laughter. She was a woman who took some of life's hardest punches and yet maintained a cheery disposition. She was one of the nicest people I've ever met, an amazing woman indeed. Regardless of her age, Busia always had a youthful heart and enjoyed life and loved with all her heart. She was a loving mother and grandmother with a grateful heart and positive outlook on life. She was a true representative of strength, vibrancy and longevity. Some of my best memories will always be sitting at Barnaby's Pizza sharing her life stories, with her beer, coffee and water in hand. Henrietta was a giver of good vibes and her positive spirit will live on in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a cool and hip mother-in-law and I was blessed to retire at the same time so we could have our “Friday Day” for grocery shopping and appointments. You will be so greatly missed by all of us and you were one of the greatest friends a daughter could have. Thanks for all the memories and laughter.

The family would like to thank wholeheartedly the nurses, CNAs, kitchen staff and The Center for Hospice for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time.

A private Memorial Mass will be held at a later date for family. Cremation has taken place. Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
