William John Tschida

SOUTH BEND - William J. "Bill" Tschida, 89, died on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, during the evening hours surrounded by his family. Bill was born on March 2, 1922, in South Bend, to John and Mary (Steinhofer) Tschida. He retired from RACO where he was employed for 47 years.

Mr. Tschida was a World War II Army veteran, a member of the D.F.V. German Club, St. Stephen's Society and St. Casimir Church.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Pauline F. (Wojcik) Tschida; two daughters, Carolyn Cleaver of Granger and JoAnn (Joseph) Goepfrich of South Bend; two sons, John (Gail) Tschida and Jim (Margaret) Tschida, both of South Bend; a sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Van Paris of South Bend; and sisters-in-law, Helen Tschida of South Bend and Joan Tschida of LaPorte. His life was filled with much joy from his 13 grandchildren, Greg, Patrick (Meaghan) and Tim Cleaver; Susan (Trevor) Gasper; Joseph, Michael, Matthew and Elizabeth Goepfrich; Andy (Danielle), Erin (fiance' Brad Fairchild), David, Ethan & Sarah Tschida. Also 5 great-grandchildren, Siobhan Cleaver, Leo & Nicolas Gasper; and Liam and Drew Tschida.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arthur Tschida and George Tschida; a sister, Margaret Wartha; and a son-in-law, Jim Cleaver.
