Mitchell M. Stepniewski, 65, of 19597 Paxon Drive, died at 10:34 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Medical Center as the result of an illness. There will be no services. Cremation will take place at Michiana Crematory. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the family home. Welsheimer Funeral Home, North Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice or the Wyoming Wildlife Federation, 1401 Main St., Apt. 2, Evanston, Wyo. 82930. 

Mr. Stepniewski was employed in the camera plate-making department at The Tribune, retiring in 1987 after 40 years of service there. He was born Feb. 6, 1922, in South Bend, .where he lived his lifetime. On June 19, 1953, in South Bend, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Weber. She survives along with two daughters, Vesta Stepniewski of Evanston, Wyo., and Maggie Stepniewski of Bairoil, Wyo.; two sisters Mary Ann Karnafel of Logansport, Ind., and Carol Lee Vanatta of South Bend; and three brothers, Dr. Donald of Toledo, Ohio, and Chester and Sigmund, both of South Bend. He was a member of the National and Wyoming wildlife federations, the Graphic Communications International Union, The Tribune 25-Year Club and the American Association of Retired Persons.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.
