ELEANOR E. (STASZEWSKI) CHOINACKY

Eleanor E. Choinacky Sept. 15, 1921 - Oct. 19, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Eleanor E. Choinacky, 94, passed away Monday, October 19, 2015 in the West Bend Nursing Facility. Eleanor was born September 15, 1921 to the late John and Mary (Jasinski) Staszewski.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her sisters, Theresa Lentych, Angeline Paturalski, Josephine Gloyeski and Lucille Stankiewicz; and brothers, Eugene, Clement, Irvin, and Norbert Staszewski.

Survivors of Eleanor include her sons, James (Anne) Choinacky of Granger, and Mark (Janice) Choinacky of South Bend; seven grandchildren, David (Tina) Choinacky, Lisa Choinacky (Josh Parks), Ellen Choinacky (Jeff Uchman), Michael (Kris) Choinacky, Thomas Choinacky, Beth (Terry) Ploetz, and Amanda Choinacky; and eight great-grandchildren, Megan and Claire Choinacky, Anita Parks, Maxwell and Owen Uchman, Alexandra Choinacky, and Liliana, and Gavin Ploetz. Eleanor was one of eleven children; she is also survived by her sisters, Geraldine Rothballer, and Henrietta Steinhoffer both of South Bend.

Eleanor attended South Bend Washington High School.

She worked at Wilson Brothers and the Star Store as a seamstress. In 1984 she retired from the Torrington Corp. (Ingersol Rand) after 28 years of service in the cost accounting department. Eleanor was very active in the Altar and Rosary Society at Holy Cross Catholic Church. She was a talented quilter and an awesome cook and baker.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in Holy Cross Catholic Church with a one hour visitation prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. MAYFLOWER RD. is assisting the family. Expressions of sympathy on behalf of Eleanor may be offered to Holy Cross Catholic School, 1020 N. Wilber St., South Bend, Indiana or Christ Child Society.
