Joseph S. Sobczyk

June 19 1921 - Jan. 12, 2006 

Joseph S. Sobczyk, 84, died January 12, 2006 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Joseph was born to Jacob and Suzzana Sobczyk on June 19, 1921, in Illinois. He moved later to South Bend, Ind. He married Helen T. Kluczyk on January 19, 1946.

Survivors are his beloved wife, Helen Sobczyk; a daughter, Marlene and Harry Imus; three grandchildren, Shelley (Imus) and Tom Templin, Brent and Kelly Imus and Nicholas Imus; six great-grandchildren, Kevin, Eric, Quinn, Aurora, Bradley and Brennen. Preceding him in death was a son, James Paul Sobczyk who died April 30, 1990. Joseph also has two surviving sisters, Agnes Jenczewski and Alice and Ernie Prentkowskl. 

Joseph was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, the Holy Names Society, the St. Joseph Club, the American Legion Post 357, a veteran of World War II and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Adalbert. He retired from the South Bend Parks Department. Joseph was a great, loving, father and grandfather, who loved all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They loved always calling him Dada since they knew their first baby talk words, and he would always hold them, and play his favorite Polkas, rocking them to sleep. Dada we sure will miss you greatly.
