Irene G. (Nagy) Horvath

SOUTH BEND - Irene G. Horvath, 87, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009, in the Saint Joseph Regional Med Center. Irene was born on April 29, 1922, in South Bend, to Antal and Kate (Szigety) Nagy. Irene was employed by Indiana Carton, Empire Box, and Packaging Corp. She was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, its St. Anne Society and Sacred Heart & Rosary Society and the William Penn Assoc.

She married Sylvester Budzinski in November 1943, who died on October 19, 1959. On January 7, 1961, she married Geza Horvath, who died on February 4, 2005. Irene was also preceded in death by two sisters, Kathryn Ewald and Helen Nagy.

Surviving are two daughters, Frances (Denny) Cronin of South Bend and Mary Ann (James) Whittaker of Mishawaka; and three grandchildren, Angela Whittaker, Michael Whittaker and Melissa Whittaker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2009, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2-6 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S.
