ALFRED "AL" KOSINSKI

SOUTH BEND - Alfred "Al" Kosinski passed away on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2011, with his family gathered at his bedside. Al was born in South Bend September 5, 1921 to John and Jadwiga "Edna" (Marchelicz) Kosinski and was a lifelong resident of South Bend.

He graduated from Washington High School in 1941 and also from Acme Tool & Die Design School. He also attended classes at The University of Notre Dame. He was a Veteran of WWII with the US Army Air Corps.

On May 27, 1950 he married Martha "Marty" Buwa, who survives. He is also survived by his four sons, Gary (Janet) of St. John, IN, Terry (Marjorie) of Jonesboro, AR, Randy (Saundra) of Dayton, OH, Rick (Tracy) of New Carlisle, IN and a daughter Sherry Rohweder (Robert) of Westlake, OH. He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren: Robert, David (Maria), Kathryn, Tina (Chad), Jenni, Kassi, Brian, Andrew, Christopher, Lindsey, Bobby, Kristi, Kari, Anthony, Brooke, Austin & Jaclyn. Also, 3 great grandchildren: Alexis, Maximus and Jaxon.

Al retired from Bendix Corp in 1980 after 25 years in design engineering and 10 years in auto brake and steering. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka parish in Terre Coupe where he was an usher for the past 13 years. Prior to that, he was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church for over 40 years. He was a member of Pulaski Post 357 and lifelong member of Moose Lodge 58 of South Bend.

The joys of Al's life were his wife, four sons and daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom he was both Dziadzia and Papa. He loved tailgating at ND home football games, card games (especially Euchre), and fishing! Al was an avid bowler and loved to dance.

Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in the Saint Joseph Funeral Home, 824 South Mayflower Road where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish in Terra Coupe with burial to follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
