Margaret M. (Karacson) Simko

BERRIEN CENTER Margaret M. Simko, beloved wife and mother, age 80 years, of Berrien Center, died Saturday morning, Jan. 18, 2003, at Lakeland Hospital, Niles, after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 27, 1922, in South Bend to Joseph and Anna (Kertesz) Karacson. Mrs.

Simko was a lifetime area resident, having graduated in 1940 from Washington High School in South Bend. A member of Saint Mary Catholic Chinch in Niles, she also belonged to the Berrienettes Home Economics Club. Mrs. Simko was a former employee of the Studebaker Corp.

On May 5. 1951, in South Bend. Ind., she married Joseph Simko, who survives. Other survivors include: a daughter, Mary (Chad) Hines of Berrien Springs: two sons Michael and Frank (Barbara) Simko, both of Berrien Center: and a sister, Elsie Vogel of Indianapolis. A son, Carl J.. preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 2001.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret M. Simko will be at 10 Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Saint Mary Catholic Church, Niles, with the Rev. William 'I Melody, ('.S.C., of Notre Dame, Ind., officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Berrien Center. The family will receive friends from 0 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Simko may be made to Saint Mary Catholic Church (Niles) or the Michigan Parkinson Foundation, 30161 South-field Rd., Suite 119, Southfield, MI 48076-9775.
