July 4, 1921 - Jan. 18, 2002

,lesse H. Harrell, 80, passed away in his home on Chatem Court in Granger. Ind., on Friday, Jan. 18, where he had lived with his son for the last five years. He was formerly of Grosse Pointe, Mich. Mr. Harrell was born on July 4, 1921, in Huntington, Ind., to Jesse J. and Lucille (Stahl) Harrell, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Theron and Ralph Harrell. 

Mr. Harrell leaves to cherish his memories his son, Paul E. Harrell and his wife, Janice of Granger; his daughters, Suzy Stone, her husband, Kenneth of Mishawaka, Ind., Jos, Schile, her husband, Troy of Spencerville, Ind., and Barbara Condon, her husband, Shaun of South Bend, Ind.; his sisters, Jeanette Redling of Arlington, Mass., Geraldine Fisher of South Bend and Olive Plaia of Mishawaka; as well as nine grand-children and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 20, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, IN, Services will be conducted by Rev. John Hall at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, in Willow Creek United Methodist Church, Mishawaka. Military interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. 

Mr Harrell was an Army veteran and was honorably discharged in 1946. He served in World War II and received a Purple Heart, Sil-ver Star and Bronze Star, and numerous other medals of honor and courage.

He was a likable and humorous man. He was intelligent in his field as a tool-maker at Chrysler, and retired after 30 years of service. He was also formerly employed with Studebaker's. He was an avid sports fan. He sponsored girls softball and volleyball, and traveled with the girls to cheer them on. He was member of the U A.W. for 50+ years and the American Legion 308 and D.A.V. Mr. Harrell was also a member of the Willow Creek United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph's Visiting Nurse Association.
