Joan G. (Finzler) Palfi

SOUTH BEND - Joan G. Palfi, 88, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 7:35 PM Friday in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. She retired after 37 years of service with Uniroyal in 1978. Joan was born on April 18, 1922, in Fairfield, Connecticut, to Alex Finzler and Ethel Horvath, who preceded her in death. On July 4, 1946, in South Bend, as Joan Finzler, she married Frank S. Palfi, who preceded her in death on February 10, 1990. Also, preceding her in death were a sister, Ethel Hastings; a half sister, Mary Paris; and a half brother, Frank Takas Jr.

 

Surviving her are a daughter, Becky Havens of South Bend; two sons, Frank (Virginia) Palfi of Walkerton, IN, and Joseph (Treva) Palfi of South Bend, IN; and six grandchildren, Sara (John) Piller, Melissa Havens, Krista, Scott, Lauren and Rachel Palfi.

 

Friends may call on Monday, June 21, 2010, from 4-7 PM in the Zahoran Funeral Home Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 22, 2010, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. She was a member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary and the Uniroyal retirees. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church or To Pet Refuge. The family would like to thank the Southern Care Hospice and St. Paul's Sanctuary for their wonderful care.
