Carrie C. (Chwalek) Martynowicz

Carrie C. Martynowicz, 82, of White Oak Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 5 a.m. Monday, March 29, in her residence. She was born on Aug. 12, 1921, to Michael and Frances (Szefranski) Chwalek, who pre-ceded her in death. Brothers, Joseph and Edward Chwalek are deceased. On Sept. 27, 1941, in South Bend, Ind., she married Leonard Martynowicz, who passed away on May 29, 2000.

Carrie is survived by a daughter, Frances Martynowicz of Mishawaka; sons, Lenny (Marilyn) Martynowicz of Mishawaka and Jim (Cindy) Martynowicz of Cassopolis, Mich.; grandchildren, Michael (Mindy) Martynowicz of North Manchester, Ind. and Brett Martynowicz of Cassopolis; one great-granddaughter, Allison of North Manchester; sisters, Sophia Martynowicz of Mishawaka, Katherine Rapela of Edwardsburg, Mich., Jean Rozewicz of Mishawaka; and brother, Stanley Chwalek of South Bend.

She graduated from Washington High School, was a member of the PNA, ZB Falcons, and bowled at ZB's for many years. Carrie retired from Notre Dame after 16 years of service.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, March 30, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, in the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
