South Bend - Wayne Kopec, 68, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 12, 2021.
Wayne was born December 19, 1952 in South Bend to the late Joseph and Blanche (Gaczkowski) Kopec.
Left to cherish the memory of Wayne is his wife of 28 years Gayle (Williams) Kopec, along with a son, Michael Wayne (Margaret) Kopec; daughters, Angela (David Saunders) Kopec and Victoria (Martin Cureton-Smith) Kopec; step-son, Tyler Curran; 6 grandchildren; his brother, Gary Kopec; and many dear friends.
Wayne honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He was self-employed in the mobile communications industry. Wayne was a member of ABATE of Indiana, where he was Region 1 Director for many years; the Pack of Indiana, where he was an Officer and they worked with the Angel of Hope Memorial; and held various positions in the Michiana Trail Riders Coalition.
He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, riding his motorcycle, riding wave runners, the beach, snowmobiling, camping and being involved in motorcycle events. He was a very giving man, volunteered and assisted with many organizations. Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, always making sure his family was taken care of and happy. He was very talented, a "jack of all trades" and "master of most", restoring and repairing most items he came across. Wayne was also very quick witted, sharp, meticulous, and energetic; always on the go and keeping others on track.
Visitation will be 10:00 am to 1:30 pm on Saturday, April 17, 2021 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, Mayflower Rd. with a Funeral Service to begin at 1:30 pm. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
