SOUTH BEND - Candace "Nandie" Birchfield, 59, passed away at 1:49 am Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, in Memorial Hospital. Candace was born on Oct. 16, 1954, in South Bend, to M.W. and Shirley (Spencer) Birchfield. She was formerly employed as an L.P.N. and spent a good portion of her life caring for the sick and aged.
Candie was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Michael Birchfield.
Surviving are a brother, Tom (Catherine) Birchfield of Louisville, KY; nieces and nephews, T.J. Birchfield, Sarah Birchfield, Jeremy Birchfield and Fallon Criswell; a sister-in-law, Liz Birchfield of Langley, WA; and dear friends, Debbie and Dennis Feece.
Cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, in Holy Family Church, where friends may call 1/2 hour prior to services. Private burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 South Kemble Avenue, has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association .
