Barbara A. Dargiewicz

Barbara A. Dargiewicz, 84, of South Bend, passed away peacefully at her home on March 27, 2023 with her son, Jon at her side. Barbara was born in South Bend, Indiana to Fredrick and Viola (Borkowski) Dargiewicz.

She graduated from Washington High School in 1956 and was married to the late James Lula in 1985. Barbara worked most of her life in the clerical field and retired from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy at the University of Note Dame in 2000. She was also a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Church in South Bend, Indiana. Barbara took pride in her Polish heritage and was affectionately known as "Busia" by all of her grandchildren.

Barbara is preceded in death her parents Fredrick and Viola; her husband, James; and sisters, Loretta Igaz, Zenobia Robinson, and Molly Smessaert. She is survived by her loving children, Jon (Lucy) Klaudusz, Timothy Klaudusz, and Barbra Rekos; grandchildren, Zachary Klaudusz, Christina Hunt, Evan Klaudusz, Cassandra (Colin) McCan, and Miles Rekos; her precious great-granddaughter, Madelyn Klaudusz; her beloved Godchild and niece, Nancy Wojcik; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Barbara treasured spending time with her life-long gal pals, Beverly Fox, Virgie Mell, Elaine Rzepka, and Arline Youts, doing lunches, outings, bus trips, traveling, and just getting together to reminisce and have fun.

Barbara had many interests and pursued them all with great care and attention to detail. She was a talented gardener and her gorgeous flower beds were the envy of the neighborhood. She was also known to create beautiful projects with her sewing machine and crochet hooks.

Barbara also enjoyed music, cooking Polish food, and reading. She was loved dearly and will be deeply missed

A private burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. St. Joseph Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
