SOUTH BEND - Christine A. O'Chap, 71, passed away at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 in IU Medical Center, Indianapolis. Christine was born on January 13, 1938, in South Bend to the late Anthony Adalbert and Hilda (Kaczorowski) Kazmierczak.

On April 13, 2002 Christine married Arthur D. O'Chap. He survives along with a brother, Jerome Kazmierczak of South Bend; nieces Ann Marie Kazmierczak; stepchildren, Dale (Julie) O"Chap of Granger, Maxine O'Chap of South Bend and Kevin O'Chap of South Bend; and grandchildren, Ana (Jeff) Everett, Monica (Timothy) Folery, and Bradley O'Chap.

Her strong belief in God led her through difficult times. She loved God and loved all people. As a volunteer she shared her music with others, playing the piano every week since August of 1990 on the Rehab Floor of Memorial Hospital. She also did volunteer piano playing at the St. Joseph Care Center-West, as well as the Basil Moreau Convent. She also entertained patients at the Milton Home and Healthwin Hospital. She was accompanist in the late '50s and earl '60s for the Studebaker Male Chorus. She retired from Allied Signal (formerly Bendix). She was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church and a member of their Rosary Society and Harvest House. She belonged to the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Bendix Salaried Retirees Club.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2009 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2009 in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will also be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2420 W. Huron St., South Bend, IN 46619. For those who are unable to attend the funeral liturgy, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
