Now in God's hands SOUTH BEND - Clide L. Austin, 74, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010. Clide was a very anointed man of God who loved helping anybody. Clide was born on Oct. 8, 1936.

He attended Washington High School and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1955. He was later inducted into the State of Indiana Hall of Fame on Jan. 19, 1990. He also coached track at Washington High School. He attended one year at I.U. He dropped out to join the military. He served four years regular time and 12 years in the Air Force Reserve.

He was preceded in death by James Austin Sr. and Sheila Whitehead.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories his mother, Vivian Austin; his children, Clide Austin Jr. (Diane) of New York City, Ronnie Lee Austin (Debra) of Richardson, TX, Tonja Austin, Tascha Austin, Derick Austin (Jolanda), all of South Bend, IN. He also leaves to cherish his memory brothers, Clarence Austin and James Austin Jr. (Deborah), all of South Bend, IN. He also has 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three godchildren; a very special friend, Pastor Andre Wells; and a host of family and friends.

Services for Mr. Austin will be Wednesday, December 15, 2010, in the Second Baptist Church, 24828 Filmore Road. Visitation at 11 a.m. and funeral services at noon.
