SOUTH BEND - Mr. Heshimu Jevon Boyd, 37, is now at peace following an extended illness after passing away on Thursday, July 17, 2008, in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana. Heshimu was born May 10, 1971, in South Bend, to Charles and Veronica (McKnight) Boyd. As a lifetime area resident,

Heshimu graduated from Washington High School. He also loved basketball and Notre Dame football.

Loving family members who survive include one daughter, Kayle Veronica Boyd; four sons, Tevin Larkin of Elkhart, IN, Kali Boyd, Kenan Boyd and Jevon Boyd, all of South Bend; his father, Willie Charles (Ann) Boyd Jr. of Houston, TX; two sisters, Anna Boyd and Pauline Boyd, both of Houston; a special brother, Sunny Miller of South Bend; aunts, Anita Columbus of South Bend and Carrie Sue Walker of Shreveport, LA; and great-aunts, Dorothy Barnes and Anna Mae Turner, both of South Bend. Heshimu had many special people in his life including his lifelong companion, Shannon Reidenbach of South Bend, Stephanie Scaife and daughters, Ric Keshia Wear, Len `Quece Lipsey and Shydae Scaife, all of South Bend; godparents, Earl Freeman of Rockford, IL, and Sandra Freeman of Niles, MI; godsister, Kelly Johnson of South Bend; godbrothers, Brandann and Kali Freeman of Elgin, IL; along with many close cousins and valued friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Veronica Boyd; grandmother, Margaret McKnight; and paternal grandparents, Willie Charles Boyd Sr. and Pauline Boyd.

Services for Mr. Boyd will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in Alford's Mortuary, where arrangements have been entrusted. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
