Albert Bognar of Wesley Chapel Fl. formally of South Bend In. passed away peacefully on February 16 surrounded by family.

Albert was born to Paul Bognar and Mary Bognar (Kulchar) on May 24 1931 in South Bend In. Both of his parents immigrated to the United States from Hungary where they raised a family of seven boys. Earnest, Henry, William, Albert, Alex, Joseph and Edward.

Albert served in the Army during the Korean War and left a decorated war hero. Upon his return he married Sylvia Nowak on September 3 1955. Aside from raising his children he enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, golfing, bowling and playing cards and horseshoes with his brothers.

Albert worked several jobs including as a computer programmer at Uniroyal / Ball Band in Mishawaka In., IBM and Bognar-Young Landscapes.

Albert is remembered for his dedication to gardening and eagerness to share plants and the bounty from the garden. He had a great sense of humor and an interest in music of all kinds. He spent many happy hours with his collection of records and tapes. Albert had a love of all things Notre Dame. Loyal fan and season football ticket holder he attended many games come rain shine or snow, walked the campus, lit candles at the grotto and perused the book store.

Albert is survived by his wife Sylvia, his 3 children Catherine, Janice, Bryan, 9 grandchildren Jason, Avery, Amy, Merritt, Joseph, Michael, Katie, Kelsey, Levi and 5 great grandchildren Michael, Tom, Jasper, Joshua, Jacob.

Currently no service is planned.
