Karl Bruce Varga

KARL B. VARGA

April 3, 1947 - Aug. 18, 2010
GRANGER - Karl Bruce Varga, 63, of Granger, passed away August 18, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born April 3, 1947 in South Bend, he was the son of the late Eugene and Helen Varga.

On December 15, 1974, Karl married Star Ann Gill. She survives. Also surviving are sons, Karl R. (Kimberly) Varga of Mishawaka, William Minder of Elkhart, and Robert (Debra) Minder of Nappanee; daughter, Stacey (Jeff) Rach of Osceola; sister, Shari Cuzinski of South Bend; and eight grandchildren, Abigail and Victoria Varga, Lindsey, Ashley, Katelyn and Cole Minder, and Edward and Jeffrey Rach, Jr.

Karl was a graduate of Washington High School in 1965 and earned his Associates degree in Business Administration in 1967. Karl proudly served our country as a Marine.

Most of his employment career was spent in sales, retiring in 2009. He had a tough outer shell, but those who knew him best, knew he was kind, gentle and loving on the inside. He had many hobbies including camping with his treasured friends, where he was known as Baggo (corn-hole) champion, and he let everyone know it! He also enjoyed hunting in his earlier years, spending time by his pool, driving his Corvette and teasing his family as his show of affection, especially to his grandchildren to whom he displayed your typical "Grandpa" characteristics of spoiling them and teasing them to no end. We will always love our Papa/Pa! Karl could often be found with his friend, George, cutting wood, gardening, picking seasonal fruit or mushroom hunting, among other things. Karl will be remembered for his gracious and generous spirit. He was always willing to lend a hand and his caring personality was such that he did not like to see others hurt. He also never backed down from an argument...and he let you know what his opinion was even if you did not ask for it. Most of all, Karl loved his wife, children, grandchildren and his niece Candance. He will be forever missed!

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 23 in the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, SR 23. Enter off Cherry Rd. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, or to the American Cancer Society.
