Robert Zygulski

Robert J."Zyggy" Zygulski

February 1, 1944 - May 12, 2022

Robert J. "Zyggy" Zygulski passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2022.
Bob was born in South Bend, Indiana on February 1, 1944, to Roman and Dorothy (Kowalski) Zygulski. He is survived by his partner Susan Meiser, his children Paul Zygulski (Jolie) of Adkins, Texas, Mary Williams of Belvidere, IL, Kerri Zygulski of Crystal Lake, IL, Kelli Latham (Derek) of San Tan Valley, AZ; a sister, Kathy Lekarczyk (Mike) of South Bend, IN, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, a niece and nephew. He is also survived by the mothers of his children, Judy Jurek (Kenneth) of Pasadena, Texas and Susan Spencer Zygulski (Larry) of San Tan Valley, AZ.

Bob met Susan Meiser in 1995 when her daughter, Pam, set them up on a blind date at Cadillac Ranch in Bartlett, IL. They immediately clicked and were together until his passing. During their years together they enjoyed going on yearly cruises, traveling, golfing, and spending time with family and friends. They enjoyed having morning coffee on their deck and watching the birds.

During the long winter months when he couldn't be on the golf course, Bob would pass the time by doing jigsaw and Sudoku puzzles. He enjoyed watching old westerns and sports on TV (sometimes all at the same time)! He loved his cigars, Dewar's, and a good hot dog!

Bob grew up in South Bend, IN, and graduated from Washington High School in 1962. As a young boy he met his lifelong best friend, Jerry Kozuch, whom he talked to nearly every day until his passing. They had an on going bet about which team was better – the Cubs or the White Sox, winner for the year receiving a "free"dinner.

Bob attended DeVry Technical Institute from 1962-64 and was employed as a market analyst for First National Bank of Chicago until 1985. He was also a sales associate for Jean Schultz Real Estate from 1980-1995. In 1991, he started working for Dan Nigri Lincoln-Mercury, selling new and used cars. He worked at the dealership until their closing in 2008. Bob was a great salesman and had many loyal customers.
Bob was an avid golfer, playing whenever he could. One of his greatest thrills was playing in the Lincoln-Mercury Classic golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, NV in 1994.

As a diehard Notre Dame supporter, Bob watched every game he could. He was an Elvis fan and was known to be pretty good at singing his songs.

Bob was always the gentleman, a kind, gentle, generous, and thoughtful person. He was always thinking of others before himself, even when he wasn't feeling well. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and all his extended family. You couldn't help but love him when you met him!
Bob will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

A Memorial Visitation for Bob will be held at DuPage Memorial Chapel (951 W. Washington Street, West Chicago) on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 11 AM-1 PM with a service at 12 PM.
Donations can be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
