RICHARD E. BROADWAY
Richard Broadway May 9, 1943 - June 5, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Richard Edwin Broadway, age 71, who resided on North Brookfield Street, South Bend, IN, passed away at 6:15 a.m., on June 5, 2014 at Center for Hospice, South Bend, IN. Richard was born May 9, 1943 in South Bend, IN, to Howard M. Broadway and Emma DuHaney both of whom preceded him in death, along with his stepfather, Carrol DuHaney. He married Grace Jenkins on October 3, 1962 in South Bend, IN.
He worked 33 years as a foreman for Uniroyal and 13 years as a laborer at Steel Warehouse. He was a UAW member and a member of Berean SDA Church. He loved watching drag racing, basketball and football. He also loved singing and being with his family. He was artistic and was a Mr. Fix it Man.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Grace Broadway; three daughters, Glenda (Darren) Fisher, Yvonne Broadway and Tori (DeWayne) Malone, all of South Bend, IN; three sons, Derrick (Pamela) Broadway of Elgin, OK, Bernard "Peter" Broadway and Howard Broadway both of South Bend, 13 grandchildren & 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Toye (Gary) Simmons of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Stanford Broadway of Los Angeles, CA and Knowel (Brenda) Broadway of Osceola, IN, eight step-siblings along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Alford's Mortuary. Viewing will take place at Alford's Mortuary from 10:00 a.m., to 11:00 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford's Mortuary. www.alfordsmortuaryinc.com
