Johnson, 74, of Bremen, IN, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2015, with her loving and caring family at her bedside at the home of her daughter, Julie Van Winkle, in Granger, IN. Elizabeth was born on September 12, 1941, in South Bend, IN, to the late Steven and Anne (Morman) Horvath. As the former Elizabeth Horvath, she married Jay Johnson on February 14, 1983. Elizabeth and Jay shared 32 years of commitment to each other.

Elizabeth graduated from Washington High School.

She continued her interest in their sports records (GO PANTHERS)! She also had a love for watching the W.W.E. Wrestling channel on TV. Elizabeth retired as a cook from Honkers Restaurant in 2001. Left to cherish her memory and her love are husband, Jay; sister, Mary Anne Kovatch; daughter, Julie Van Winkle; son, Don Van Winkle; nephew, Michael Kovatch. Grandchildren, Heather Jackson, Loren and Landon Van Winkle, Josh, Sarah, Courtney and Kayla Van Winkle. Great-grandkids, KayLynn and Kelsea Brant, Jade Miller, Hannah Bailey, Mathew and Caidence Bouskill. There are many friends of her precious daughter Lori whom she considered her "other daughters," Beth, Tina, Lonna and Maria. Also waiting in heaven are her four legged companions, Bundles and Tyler, and many other of her fur babies.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Lori Marie, nephew, Paul Kovatch, sister, Jeanette Tatro, and brother, Eddie Melvin. Although she was small in stature, her love for her family and all God's creatures was huge and all-encompassing. Everyone who knew her loved her, and the feeling was mutual.

There will be no visitation or service for Elizabeth. The family requested for memorial contributions to be donated to the Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545-5234. Also, if you are inclined, plant a tree, bush or flower in her memory, as she loved all things green and growing. And be kind to animals. Bubb Funeral Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.
