Rita Kasznia (Lovisa)

RITA  A. LOVISA

Feb. 6, 1938 - Dec. 13, 2010
SOUTH BEND - Rita Ann Lovisa, 72, passed away on December 13, 2010, after a courageous three-year fight with cancer. Rita was born in Crumstown, IN, to Marion and Mamie (Kmitta) Kasznia on February 6, 1938.

She graduated from Washington High School in 1957 and attended Indiana University Extension.

She retired from the County Clerk's office in 1966, and spent the remainder of her life dedicated to her family and faith. Rita was a woman with a constant positive attitude in life, which helped her get through her many medical challenges. She was a great cook, combining her Polish heritage with her husband's Italian heritage, which made for many delicious meals enjoyed with her family. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crafts, reading and, recently, wintering in Marco Island, FL. Rita was involved with many charities and was active in St. Jude's parish as a greeter and cooking for funerals.

Rita is survived by her husband, Roman Lovisa, who she married on April 24, 1965, at St. Adalbert's parish; sons, Jeffery (DeeAnn) Lovisa, Keith (Julie) Lovisa and Victor (Julie) Lovisa; grandchildren, Vincent, Nicolette, Gabrielle and Dominic Lovisa; sisters, Mary Jane Cinal, Adeline Kruk, Barbara Matuszak and Marsha Rieker; brothers, David (Renate) Kasznia, Robert (Eva) Kasnia and Victor (Darlene) Kasznia; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ben Kasznia and Marion Kasznia; and a sister, Evelyn Kaczmerek.

We wish to thank all of our family and friends who called, wrote, and especially prayed for Rita.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2010, in St. Jude Catholic Church, where family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity or to St. Catherine of Sienna at St. Jude's Building Fund. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
