SOLOMON R. TOWNSEND

SOUTH BEND - Solomon Richard Townsend, 64, departed this life on September 11, 2008, in his home in Hawaii. Solomon was born on February 24, 1944, to the late Amos and Eleanor Townsend.

He leaves to cherish his memories his dearest sister, Virginia (Fred) Johnson; three daughters, Varena and Solenia of South Bend, and Safiya of Hawaii; two grandchildren, Dante Townsend and Shakir Carr; two great-grandchildren, Tavaris and Braylen Townsend; nieces, Marlene Waddell and Virgie Smith; and nephews, Michael Poole and Terry Johnson. He will also be deeply missed by his best friend, Chandra Om of Hawaii.

Solomon was a 1963 graduate of Washington High School where he can best be remembered for his athletic contributions.

No local services will be held.
