Thomas Landis - Class Of 1968 VIEW PROFILE

Thomas Landis

Charles Thomas (Tom) Landis

September 23, 1949- November 22, 2023

Tom was a lifelong learner always curious about life. He tried to stay up to date by continually studying and researching the daily news and politics. He loved watching his Chicago White Sox, listening to new music, especially blues, playing golf with good buddies, traveling and cooking, particularly Hungarian dishes.

He started as a clerk at the South Bend Post Office, then became a union steward, eventually working his way up to local union pesident. As a labor mediator and representative, he relished the good, fair fight, serving as each worker's voice and advocate.

Tom carried what he learned into his personal life, always an educator to his family, giving us ideas, tools and encouragement to advance ourselves. He always showed up to support our decisions.

Tom's great joy and source of pride were his lifelong friendships and family. His daughters are Michele Landis and Erin Landis. Grandchildren are Eric (Sydney) Bradley, Carter Stewart, Alanna Keilei-Shai Stewart, Trevor Stewart, Gavin Landis, and Blayre Landis. His great grandchildren are Oden Bradley, Ivy Bradley, and Everly Bradley. His sisters are Cooki (Russ) Messmer and Snooky (Tommy) Gravenor.

Tom's parents, Millard (Buck) Landis and Elizabeth (Betty) Landis preceded him in death.

The family sends heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped out at this time including first responders and neighbors, St. Joseph emergency team, Memorial Tauma Team, and Heart to Heart Hospice. Your compassion, care, and calming reassurance helped us navigate this challenging time.

A celebration of life will be held in the Spring.
