Andre Shur

With profound sadness and heartfelt love, the Shurn family announces the passing of Andre Lamar Shurn, age 63, of Calumet Park, Illinois, who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 11:01 a.m. CST after a lengthy illness.

Andre was born in South Bend, Indiana, on October 12, 1962, to Cleofus "Lee" Shurn and Georgia Mae Shurn (Brown). His childhood and school years were shared between South Bend, Indiana, and Benton Harbor, Michigan. He attended Harrison Elementary School, Hull Jr. HS, Edison Jr. HS, Benton Harbor HS, and graduated from Washington HS in South Bend in 1981. Following graduation, he attended Indiana University–Bloomington before returning home to South Bend.

Andre was blessed with two children whom he loved deeply: Andre Lavae Shurn, born July 21, 1989, and Latasha Shante Shurn, born October 12, 1996. After relocating to the Chicago area, he made his home in Calumet Park, Illinois.

Andre was known for his warm smile, quick wit, and caring spirit. He possessed a vibrant personality that could brighten any room. A lifelong fashion enthusiast, he enjoyed dressing well and expressing himself through style. He loved basketball, enjoyed challenging friends to games of chess, and cherished opportunities to travel throughout the country.

Andre was also a devoted Chicago White Sox fan and treasured the many games he attended with his son, his father, and his brother Anthony. Andre leaves to cherish his memory. He is survived by son Andre Lavae, daughter Latasha Shante, and brothers Anthony and Kevin. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. Andre will truly be missed.

Time: 11:00 am- Memorial Service.
