Joan (Joanne McMahan) Buell, 74, of New Carlisle, passed away on Friday April 10, 2026 in her home. She was born on February 22, 1952, in South Bend, to the late Price W. and Lockie Bell (Inman) McMahan. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Johns and by two brothers, Cherry and Michael McMahan. Joan attended Washington High School in South Bend, Class of 1970. On March 01, 1975, as Joan McMahan, she married Harry J. Buell, Jr., who survives. Also surviving are her two sons, David A. Buell of New Carlisle and Michael A. (Annette) Buell of LaPorte, IN, five grandchildren, Andrew, Jessica, Alexandria, Sarah and Eric Buell and by three brothers, Earl Free of South Bend and Danny and Jonny McMahan of Mishawaka, IN. A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm EDT Friday April 17, 2026 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St., New Carlisle. A memorial service for Joan will be held at 11 am EDT Saturday April 18, 2026 in the funeral home.
