Ethel Lee Agnew

Ethel Lee Agnew, a beacon of love and dedication, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, in Canton, GA. Born on March 1, 1959, in South Bend, IN, to the late Ray and Helen Agnew, Ethel's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her nurturing heart.

Ethel leaves to cherish her memory nieces, Dominique and Asia Comer whom she raised from birth and mothered to her end, along with her siblings, Bonnie (Jessie) Gathright, Betty Campbell, Roy, Robert, Melvin Agnew all of South Bend, and Anthony "Tony" (Renee) Agnew of Phoenix, AZ. Ethel's love also extended to her niece, Valerie (Fred) Sconiers of Phoenix, AZ. Ethel leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews including London Williams, her loving friends and extended family in Atlanta, GA that she loved and cherished.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Sandra Agnew, Dr. Rosemary Agnew Meracle, Estrella McFadden-Martin, and brothers, Willie, Joe Agnew, L.C. Agnew.

Ethel attended Washington High School, shortly after she moved to Atlanta, GA where she was blessed with a position at Cobb County School District for more than 30 years as a bus monitor.

Ethel's interests were deeply intertwined with her vocation. She loved being with and helping the kids on her bus route. Her presence was a comforting and familiar part of their daily lives, and her impact on these young individuals was profound and lasting. In her free time Ethel enjoyed traveling, shopping and visiting beautiful casinos and hanging out with her friends and family.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Ethel's special friends in Alanta, Dawn Brantley, Rosalyn Butts and Erica McKinley who helped to care for Ethel until the end.

Graveside services for Ethel will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Southlawn Cemetery, 61300 U.S. 31 South, South Bend, IN. Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
