Mr. Francis Lee Reid, 88, formerly of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at Kennestone Hospital, Marietta, GA, with his loving family by his side.

Born on July 18, 1937, in South Bend, Indiana, Francis was the beloved son of the late Francis Lee Kitchen and was raised by Harry Reid Sr. and Pearl (Flag) Reid. He was also preceded in death by a son Juan Simpson; brother's Willie Jackson, Harry Reid Jr, Eddie Reid, and Albert Reid Kitchen.

Francis attended Washington High School, then went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army from 1955 - 1958.

Francis worked at AM General, where he contributed to the manufacturing of military Humvees-work he took great pride in. On May 24, 1961, he married the love of his life, Mary Virginia (Simpson), and together they built a family grounded in love, loyalty, and service.

A lifelong member of AMVETS Post 66, Francis also attended Saint Paul Bethel Church in South Bend and Seven Springs Church, Lithia Springs Georgia where he was baptized by Bishop Jim Bolin and pastor Randy Coggins II. He found joy in bowling, visiting Four Winds Casino, and spending time with his large, close-knit family.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Mary Virginia Reid of Douglasville, GA; his children: Regina (Terrance) Michael Hardy of South Bend, IN; Greta Reid of Austell, GA, Temugen (Monica) Reid of Indianapolis, IN; Cyrene Reid of South Bend, IN; and Terae Reid of Douglasville, GA, Donald (Dora) Simpson, Ronald (Sherry) Simpson, Jackie Cindy Toney, Lee Francis Anderson, David Price, Desmond (Tavia Lavonda) Adams, Aaron Galloway, Darcelle Galloway, Michelle Taylor, John Patrick Reid, and LeeAnn (Isaac) Reid Mitchell.

He is also survived by his loving sister, Helen (Luther) Allen; brother, Robert Reid; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless friends and associates.

Osceola, Indiana
Officiant: Reverend Gilbert C. Washington

Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, with Full Army Honors provided by the American Legion Post 360 of Osceola, Indiana.
