Terry Lee Cortier

Terry Lee Cortier, age 78, of South Bend, IN passed away May 27, 2025. Born on October 17, 1946 in South Bend, IN to the late Doris (Gray) and Jean Cortier.
Terry Cortier was a proud West-Sider and attended Washington High School before being drafted into the Army as a Combat Engineer during the Vietnam War. Upon his return from the military, Terry worked as a truck driver and iron worker, eventually retiring from Honeywell.
Terry had a deep love for animals, Studebakers, and Harley Davidsons. He was known for always having at least one rescue dog by his side at a time, and would always be sure to stop and admire any Harley bikes or Studebakers that he encountered. Some of Terry’s proudest moments were watching and coaching his son’s athletics.
With his passing, Terry is reunited with his wife, the late Linda G. Cortier who preceded him in death, along with his mother, Doris, and father, Jean. Terry is survived by his son, Christian Lee Cortier, whom he loved dearly and expressed great pride in. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Cambria, Joshua, and Gabrielle Cortier; two great grandchildren; his brother and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Terry’s niece, Kellee Moore, for her support and guidance over the last two years. A special thank you also to Harmony at Elkhart, Chapters Living of South Bend, and AseraCare Hospice for their devoted care.
A gravesite ceremony will be held at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens on June 14, 2025 @ 11am (use Jefferson entrance). Followed by a Celebration of Life @ 2pm at The American Legion Post 357 located at 5414 W Sample St. South Bend, IN 46619. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to America’s VetDogs or Pet Refuge.
