In Memory
Diamond Sharell (Diggins) Thomas
August 16, 1994 ~ February 28, 2022
Mrs. Diamond Sharell Thomas, of Las Vegas, Nevada, was born on August 16, 1994 to parents, Damon Hatcher (who preceded her in death) and Mia Y. Diggins. On Monday, Feb. 28, 2022 after a year-long fight with AML (acute myeloid leukemia) and with her loving family by her side, Diamond was called home to be with the Lord.
On October 20, 2018, Diamond married the love of her life, Montrell Anthony Thomas.
We knew Diamond was destined for scholastic greatness when, in 2009, she received first place in the South Bend Community School Corporation spelling bee contest. She then proceeded to graduate from Washington High School, South Bend, Indiana, in 2013. Diamond furthered her education by attending and graduating from Butler University, Indianapolis, IN, in 2017 with her bachelor's degree in political science; and Boyd School of Law in Las Vegas, Nevada, from which she graduated in December 2019. Diamond went on to pass the state bar in February 2020, and took oath in May 2020.
Diamond's hobbies, first and foremost, in the words of her loving husband, "Trell," was bossing him around, which he, in turn, would honor her request. She loved cooking, reading, socializing with friends, traveling, and was absolutely in love with the pool. Diamond loved spending time with family and as a true Daddy's Girl; everyone knew not to interfere with daddy/daughter movie time while they enjoyed their popcorn. Even in her illness, she maintained a sense of humor, calling her mother and husband the "Bossiest Caregivers Ever."
Professing her life to Christ at an early age, Diamond grew up in Believers Church of God in Christ, where she sang in the Sunshine Band and served on the usher board.
Along with her loving husband, Montrell, left to cherish her precious memories are her parents, Elder Jeffery and Mia Diggins; sisters, Dominique (Jarell) and Kiara Jackson; brothers, Jeffery (Miriam) and Jalin (Caleigh); grandparents, Evelyn Honer, Geraldine Hatcher, and Supt. Samuel L. and Ruth Diggins; god-sisters, Charnae Ross, Chardae Ross, MyAun-nah Wilson, and Love Thomas; god-brothers, Samuel L. Diggins III, Tabreon Johnson, and Gladger Ross Jr.; nephews, Ranson Ivy III and Peyton Suggs; niece, Milani Diggins; mother-in-love, Urshela Irby; sister-in-love, Cherelle Milledge; brother-in-love, Gregory Milledge; special cousins/brothers, Kheanan and Khalin Diggins; aunt/sisters, Feticia and Felicia; her fur-baby, Marley; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
In addition to her father, Damon Hatcher, Diamond was preceded in death by grandfather, Anthony Wilson, Sr.; uncle, Anthony Wilson, Jr.; godmother Shirley Ross; uncle, Kenneth Palmer; and aunt, Carolyn Hatcher.
Funeral services for Diamond will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, March 11, 2022 at New Horizons Outreach Ministries, 56165 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am-12:00 pm on Friday at the church prior to the service.
