MISHAWAKA - Joseph William Schmidt, 26, of Mishawaka, passed away on Wednesday June 8, 2016 at Hospice House, South Bend.

He was born on October 28, 1989 in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

He is survived by his parents; Krista (Mel) Cranmer of South Bend and Lee (Debbie) Schmidt of Mishawka; a sister, Melanie Schmidt of South Bend; a step-sister, Rachelle Mitchell of Mishawaka; a step-brother, Robert Mattasits of MO; and grandparents, Gloria Schmidt of South Bend, Gretchen Kyle of Columbia City, IN and Bill (Peggy) Russell of TN.

Joseph was a avid gun enthusiast. Graduate of Washington high school

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday June 12, 2016 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. Services will follow at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
