Raymond Wawrzyniak, 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and faith.
Ray was born on May 7, 1942 in South Bend, to the late Edward and Anna (Alexandrowicz) Wawrzyniak, Sr. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Van Orman and sister-in-law, Marcia Wawrzyniak.
Left to cherish the memory of Ray are his brothers, Edward Wawrzyniak, Jr. and Richard Wawrzyniak; nieces, Lisa (John) Vanderbosch, Kim Niezgodski (Keith), and Shelley Hatch; nephew, Jon (Linda) Wawrzyniak; great-niece, Taylor Niezgodski; and several other great-nieces and nephews.
Ray attended Washington High School, then proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a truck driver for many years until retiring from Simon Brothers-Clark Food Service. Ray attended Christ Chapel, where he was an usher and friend to many. He was also known for handing out his favorite mints. Ray was an avid fisherman and had more tackle and poles than anyone could imagine. Saugany Lake was his sanctuary. Ray selflessly looked after his mother and sister for many years and was always the first to lend a hand to his family, no matter the need. His generosity and compassion were hallmarks of his character.
